Four days, turning about 50 to 70 miles a day, total of about 230 miles, camping at state parks in NY / NJ.
These are the bikes...Mine rt, Jaime's on left.
The weather was very hot, and we saw some serious hills. Note: All state parks are at located at the top of big hills to torture cyclists. I consumed about 6 liters of water a day.
Also, sometimes the park ranger forgets to take the "Camp Full" sign down, and causes panic in very tired bicyclists.
I slept in my hammock... Combined with a tarp, I was dry in a VERY hard rain on the 2nd night. Jamie had a cool 1/2 dome tent that was bright orange... It looked like the great pumpkin.
Weird / Illegal route choices.... At another point, we had to get on I-78 for one mile to make an otherwise impossible connection and were "pulled over" by the NJ State Police.
Signs of civilization:
Beautiful scenes:
I'm truly impressed. What a great way to escape civilization for a little while.
